Accommodation
Guests stay for two nights in a small private self-catering cottage located on the farm. The accommodation consists of single-storey cottages situated next to the bunkhouse, providing a comfortable base throughout the holiday. As the accommodation is self-catering, all meals are at the guest's own expense and can be prepared within the cottage. Picnic lunches are supplied when out on the rides.
The Riding Experience
Riding begins on the afternoon of arrival with a one-and-a-half-hour session, allowing riders to become familiar with both their horse and the surroundings. During the following two days, guests enjoy three hours of riding each day, either in one longer ride or divided into two sessions. Time is also included to prepare the horses before setting out. The trail follows off-road routes across bridleways, moorland and ancient drovers' tracks through the Welsh Valley. The area reflects a history of slate and granite quarrying, with materials once transported to the canal at Chirk using its own tramway. Throughout the holiday, experienced guides provide instruction and support to help riders enjoy the experience.
The Surrounding Area
The holiday takes place in the peaceful hill farming landscape around Selattyn. The area offers extensive views across the countryside and provides opportunities to spot birds including buzzards, red kites, peregrines and the rare hen harrier flying overhead. Flowing through the villages and hamlets below is the fast-moving Ceiriog River, adding to the character of the surrounding valley.
